I can't comment on Private ones because I have not made any visits to them yet.
Here in Hong Kong, they have stupid visiting hours 18:00-20:00 which are strict and allow 1-2 people to visit each patient.
By the time people finish their daily jobs they do not have much visiting (Quality) time left.
Healing is all about family bonding.
The doors of the ward are also locked which is ridiculous, the last thing you want if you need to rush there and call for a nurse to open the door while they are busy on duty!
An example of someone not being let in because it is not visiting hours.
Unless you die, or you're seriously ill, or need some operation which needs your consent, the Doctors will not tell you what's happening.

探望時間都有限制.... 1800-2000...........
病房在非探望時間是鎖了.....
除非你差不多要死或醫生需要你的簽名，醫生不會和你講你的病情
